‘2 Million Bikers’ Travel To D.C. As Counter To ‘Million Muslim March’ On 9/11 Anniversary

Bikers across the country are heading to Washington, D.C. to counter what has been called 'The Million Muslim March' on the anniversary of 9/11. The event hosted by The American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC) is raising eyebrows, even among some in the muslim community who are opposed to the protest.

AMPAC “Million Muslim March” all hype and no substance

'Most postings on the site are incoherent and meaningless.  The statement above, that they want “to promote the ideas and principles of the Political Party” is a typical example.  As far as I can determine, they have not promoted any candidates for public office, or done anything at all except promote the 2012 failed candidacy (for Missouri secretary of state) of MD Rabbi Alam, the Chairman of the organization.  The title of the organization should be the MD Rabbi Alam political action committee.' ...'I repeat:  The leadership of AMPAC and the organizers of this event owe the American Muslim community an apology for using us to further their own personal political agenda.   They also need to cancel this event, and change the name of their organization to something that does not include the designation “Muslim”.  And, if a few individuals do show up for this shameful event and get in an altercation with a bunch of bikers, don’t claim that it had anything to do with prejudice against Muslims, and don’t come running to legitimate Muslim organizations for help.' - Sheila Musaji

In response to AMPAC's event, bikers from all over the country are converging on Washington, D.C. as a counter protest to what they see as a slap in the face of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The bikers, are calling themselves “2 Million Bikers to DC”, applied for the permit to ride their motorcycles through the nation’s capital to remember those who perished on September 11 and honor the armed forces.

However, now there is a new wrinkle, The Blaze is reporting that the U.S. National Park Service has denied the biker organization’s request for a permit to ride through the nation’s capital on September 11.

An NPS spokeswoman, Carol Johnson, cited logistical concerns for denying the permit. The NPS did, however, grant a permit to the Muslim organization to hold a “million” man march on the National Mall.

“They (the NPS) looked at it (the permit application) and decided it would cause a severe service disruption of traffic both inside and outside the area around the mall,” said Johnson, who then jokingly added “[I] wish the bikers would leave me alone.” - Carol Johnson

The biker group issued a response on Facebook saying that they still plan to converge on D.C., despite lacking a permit.
