The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting is tonight at 7PM on NBC! Here are some little known facts about the tree!

Fact #1. The star they put on top of it weighs 550 pounds.

They've been using the same one since 2004.  It's made of 25,000 Swarovski crystals worth an estimated $1.5 million.

Fact #2. Construction on Rockefeller Center started 1930.

Fact #3. The famous black-and-white 1932 photo 'Lunch Atop a Skyscraper', is of construction workers having lunch on a steel beam was taken while Rockefeller Center was being built.

Fact #4. The wood from the Rockefeller Christmas Tree will be used to build a house.

They're donating all the lumber to Habitat for Humanity for the ninth year in a row.  They haven't said where the house will be, but probably in New York. Last year's tree came from Pennsylvania, so all the wood was used for a house in Philadelphia.

Fact #5.  This year's tree came from someone's front yard.

That's right and it's a 78-foot Norway spruce, and it was donated by a family in upstate New York.
