Okay, this is just getting silly -- another major Hollywood award ceremony, another victory for Ben Affleck and 'Argo,' this time at the Director's Guild of America awards. If this was like any other year, Affleck would look like a shoe-in for the Oscar...except that he's not nominated. Which means that Affleck's repeated victories make this year's Academy Awards the hardest to predict in recent memory.

Although the big news of the ceremony was the continued momentum of 'Argo,' there were plenty of other noteworthy winners. Rian Johnson, whose 'Looper' has been unfairly ignored throughout most of the award circuit, took home a statuette for directing the haunting 'Breaking Bad' episode "Fifty-One" and Lena Dunham won in the TV comedy category for the pilot of 'Girls.' 'Master Chef' was victorious in the reality television category and Jay Roach won the best miniseries or TV movie award for 'Game Change.' Oscar prognosticators should note that 'Searching For Sugarman' won in the documentary category, lending it additional Oscar momentum.
