On a recent episode of 'The View,' co-host Barbara Walters teased bits and pieces of her annual 'Most Fascinating People' list, which this year includes the British boy-band One Direction and 'Fifty Shades of Grey' author E L James.

Blargh.

Also making the list: Olympic medalist Gabby Douglas (we bet McKayla is not impressed), actor/director Ben Affleck, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, New Jersey governor Chris Christie and 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane.

What does it take to get on Walters' list? She says she chose people who have been “very much in the news” and stipulated that “no criminals” made the cut. (Sorry, Lindsay. That's what you get for bailing on her.)

The person who snagged the No. 1 spot along with the rest of the list will be announced on Barbara's TV extravaganza, 'The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012,' which airs Dec. 12 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
