Director Shawn Levy Sees Your ‘Uncharted’ Fan-Casting, But Says No Thanks

Uncharted will attempt to break new ground in late 2017, early 2018 as the first not-bad film adaptation of a video game, but the road there is long and the production has only just embarked. They’ve got director Shawn Levy (esteemed cineaste behind such films as Date Night, The Internship, and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb), but now Levy has to find himself a leading man for the role of box-jawed hero Nathan Drake. As is so frequently the case with fan-cherished entertainment in recent years, the hordes of devotees decided to take matters into their own hands and ply the director with plenty of suggestions for casting.

Ezra Miller Says the Flash and Batman ‘Get a Kick Out of Each Other’ in ‘Justice League’

As dour and moody as the DC films have been so far, it’s about time they throw some humor into the mix. A lot of the heroes who’ll be in Justice League haven’t been properly introduced to us yet, including Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ezra Miller’s Flash. It’s only Superman who will have had a solo introduction before Justice League kicks off, with Ben Affleck’s Batman getting his intro in the middle of essentially the second Superman movie. Luckily, Batman and the Flash will have some quality time to get to know one another, as, according to Ezra Miller, it sounds like the two will have a more buddy comedy-style relationship.

New ‘Logan’ Instagram Has Wolverine Caught by Some Moonbeams

Possibly my favorite part about the current production publicity of Logan is the set’s Instagram account, economically named @wponx. It’s been active for this latest round of shooting, about a month, and has delivered us a bunch of cast and set details while also doubling as a simply stunning black and white photography account. The latest photo, posted yesterday, shows the Wolverine in standard Wolverine fighting pose, standing over what appears to be a body in someone’s backyard.

Joe Manganiello Says Ben Affleck’s ‘The Batman’ is ‘Action-Packed and Cerebral’

Excited about more Batfleck in The Batman? No one is more pumped for it than Ben Affleck himself, probably, but Joe Manganiello’s enthusiasm comes pretty close. While appearing on a podcast this week, he said all the right things about the standalone Batman movie that have us feeling hopeful that maybe the DC cinematic universe’s darkest days could be behind it.

‘Doctor Strange’ Almost Had a Completely Different Villain

Marvel movie scripts go through a ton of editing and plot reworking before they’re finally handed over to their directors, and Doctor Strange was no different. It’s a more ambitious film from its predecessors in many ways, not the least of which is introducing audiences to a new superhero and an entirely new way of thinking about the Marvel multiverse. Unsurprisingly, the writers went through a few villain ideas before it landed on the one Marvel president Kevin Feige felt would be most appropriate for the movie, but apparently we were very close to getting a completely different big bad. (Warning — SPOILERS ahead for those of you who haven’t seen the movie yet, so proceed with caution.)

Johnny Depp Has Been Confirmed as Grindelwald for the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel, So That’s Happening

The rumors are true: not only will Johnny Depp have a role in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, as well as being cast in the sequel, the mystery character he’s playing is none other than Gellert Grindelwald, Albus Dumbledore’s friend/crush-turned-sworn-enemy back when both wizards were young and full of ambition.

Here Are 25 Movie Ticket Stubs You Can Buy on eBay For Some Reason

As a movie lover, I’ve collected a lot of stuff over the years. I have an old 16mm projector reel sitting on my windowsill. My Blu-ray collection is dotted with little figures and models of famous movie characters and vehicles. I understand the urge to want to memorialize great movies and great moviegoing experiences. I even saved a few of my ticket stubs over the years. But I’ve never had the slightest urge to buy someone else’s ticket stub to a movie I didn’t see (or at least not at that day and location).

The New Willy Wonka Prequel Movie Might Be an Origin Story

We were all so busy scrambling to avert one apocalypse today, we didn’t even see another one rearing its head in the distance. SlashFilm recently spoke to power-producer David Heyman at the junket for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and questioned the Hollywood player about the plans for Warner Bros.’ impending Willy Wonka film. Without making any concrete announcements about what to expect from the early-in-development project, Heyman did drop one rather ominous prophecy when asked whether the script would be a remake of the popular Gene Wilder-starring film or the Tim Burton-directed version.

Dan Stevens Cast as Charles Dickens in ‘The Man Who Invented Christmas’

Ahh, Christmas. Hollywood has made more movies about the Christmas spirit than about any other holiday, but it has yet to go back to the roots of the season to see why we celebrate it the way we do. No, I'm not talking Passion of the Christ here, I'm talking Charles Dickens. During the Industrial Revolution, Christmas as an institution had kind of fallen out of favor, due to growing modernism and mid-1800s Puritans, to whom any whiff of happiness is suspect. Enter Dickens, who rocked the world with A Christmas Carol, his tale of joy, family, and forgiveness that breathed new life into a deteriorating holiday. Now, Dan Stevens will take on the role of Dickens for The Man Who Invented Christmas, a film based around the six-week period during which he wrote the book.
