Katherine Heigl Goes Homicidal in Trailer for Erotic Thriller ‘Unforgettable’

What the world needs now, in these turbulent and chaotic times, is more erotic thrillers. They were all over the place in the '90s, and yet somehow they've fallen out of favor in the decades since There have been a few cropping up in recent years, inspiring hope for some kind of erotic thriller renaissance; an obsessive younger man terrorized Jennifer Lopez in last year's The Girl Next Door and Morris Chestnut got caught in between two possessive women in this summer's When the Bough Breaks. Today brings the first look at the next film to join their esteemed ranks and contribute to the slow resurgence of the noble but underserved erotic thriller.

‘Lion King,’ ‘Princess Bride,’ More Added to the National Film Registry

The one good thing that the United States Congress has ever done was pass the National Film Preservation Act in 1988, establishing a National Film Registry in the Library of Congress wherein moving pictures deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” can be securely preserved. The National Film Preservation Board can induct up to 25 new entries into the archives each year, and today Deadline brings the news of which movies will effectively achieve immortality as the Class of 2016. Lots of enduring, worthy works have made the cut, though it is with a solemn heart that I must once again report the egregious continued snub of Pauly Shore comedy vehicle Bio-Dome.

‘The Fate of the Furious’ Trailer Is the Latest to Break That 24-Hour Record

Tracking movie trailer views can’t be an easy task, as you have to somehow combine everything from TV views to YouTube views to all-kinds-of-other-places views and calculate some sort of number from all of that. Previously, the record has been held by The Force Awakens, which was dethroned by Fifty Shades Darker earlier this fall, which was then whipped by the live-action Beauty and the Beast trailer (probably the most anticipated live-action Disney movie ever). Now, The Fate of the Furious is king, with 139 million views in its first 24 hours, more than 10 million more than Beauty and the Beast.

Preview the Movies of Tomorrow with the 2016 Black List

The wheels of progress turn slowly out in Hollywood. Stars can be minted overnight, sure, but the actual process of production can churn along at an extremely gradual pace; a screenwriter, for instance, can spend years trying to sell a script as it floats around the purgatory of studio heads’ desk piles. As such, every showbiz scribe dreams of landing their latest unproduced project on The Black List, an annual roundup of the hottest up-for-grabs screenplays that provides them with a highly valuable bump in publicity. In recent years, such fine films as Manchester by the Sea, Miss Sloane, Spotlight, and The End of the Tour have all begun on The Black List, and yesterday brought the official announcement of 2016’s lineup.

Watch Michael Fassbender Take a Leap of Faith in New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Clip

There are three things you have to know in order to be a good Assassin: how to tell who your enemies are, how to throw a dagger, and how to jump off of things. In this new clip from Assassin’s Creed, Michael Fassbender’s Callum Lynch/Aguilar knows his enemy (it’s easy to tell when they’re aiming a crossbow at you), throws a ton of daggers with deadly accuracy, and takes one death-defying leap of faith.

Harrison Ford Punched Ryan Gosling in the Face During a ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Stunt

Sometimes, no matter how stringent the safety measures on a movie set are, someone gets punched in the face. Stunt accidents happen all the time to even the best and most careful actors, but it’s always better when it’s an accident among co-stars who get along. It seems like Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford have become friends during production on Blade Runner 2049, but of course friendship couldn’t stop Gosling from taking an unexpected punch to the nose.

Report: Hugh Jackman Took a Pay Cut so ‘Logan’ Could Get That R Rating

It’s tougher than it seems for a superhero movie to get an R rating. These days, most of them fall somewhere around the PG-13 spectrum, which allows teen audiences easy access to the comic book movies usually geared toward them, as well as families to bring the smaller kids whose favorite toy is their oversize talking Hulk hands. But Logan is a superhero movie of a different sort, so it needs a rating that puts it in a different category from the other X-Men movies. To achieve that R rating, probably through violence and language, the star Hugh Jackman apparently took a pay cut so that the film could get there.
