City of Midland officials are asking residents to conserve water as much as they can since we have not seen a lot of rainfall in the past month.

According to NewsWest 9, Midland is so far the only west Texas city that is being asked to conserve water.

The rains over the past year have helped to refill the lakes where Midland gets the majority of its water, but officals are still pushing water conservation to help prevent the area from getting down to critical levels like it was back in 2012 and 2013.

Water usage was in the 40 million gallon range for a while but Midlanders have kept their water down to around 20 million gallons so far.
