Now that ‘Dexter‘s upcoming eighth season has been confirmed as the final year for Miami’s most famous fictional serial killer, the pieces have begun to fall into place for the Showtime drama’s ultimate endgame. Perhaps most crucial of all to that endgame is Charlotte Rampling’s Dr. Eveyln Vogel, a neuropsychiatrist with a fixation on Dexter Morgan, and the subject of ‘Dexter’s latest final season preview!
It remains to be seen precisely how ‘Dexter’ will close the eight-year saga with its final chapters set to premiere on June 30, but count on the involvement of the mysterious Dr. Evelyn Vogel (Charlotte Rampling) as she arrives at Miami Metro to display her “psychopath whispering” skills. The latest behind-the-scenes preview from Showtime reveals that the good doctor has an uncanny interest in Dexter himself, further complicating matters as Dex tries to save Deb from the derelict lifestyle she’s spiraled into.
“Psychopaths are not a mistake of nature,” Vogel teases in the preview. “They’re a gift. They’re alpha wolves who help the human race survive long enough to become civilized.” Even if Vogel knows more about Dexter than she lets on, might she have too much professional interest to bring him to justice?
In addition to Rampling, ‘Dexter’s’ eighth and final season will feature appearances from ‘The Shield’s’ Kenny Johnson, returning Yvonne Strahovski‘s Hannah McKay, ‘24‘ villain Julian Sands as a wealthy international businessman, ‘One Tree Hill’s’ Bethany Joy Lenz as Dexter’s new neighbor Cassie, ‘Last Resort‘ star Darri Ingolfsson as her antique-dealing love interest, ‘Entourage‘s’ Rhys Coiro as a bail jumper on Deb’s radar, ‘The Walking Dead‘ star Nick Gomez as a hitman that goes up against Deb, and ‘The Boondock Saints’ star Sean Patrick Flanery as ex-cop-turned-private-eye Jacob Elway.
