Did You See The Once In A Lifetime Celestial Event Last Night?
A event that hasn't happened in years, happened again last night. If you missed it, you have a long wait until you can see it again!
Last night after sunset, facing west, Venus and Jupiter were less than a degree apart in the nighttime sky. The tight conjunction of Venus and Jupiter framed by twilight blue has a special beauty that I hope you didn't miss.
Jupiter is on top, but appears smaller since it is millions of miles further away from our vantage point than Venus. If you look closely, you can see little grey dots on either side of Jupiter. I was fortunate enough to catch some of Jupiter's moons!
NASA says that this is both the closest and the last pairing between the two planets in the current 24-year cycle. If you missed it, I got a shot of it for you.
In the opposite part of the night sky was a full moon.
