If, as the saying goes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then why do so many people skip it so frequently?

According to a survey of 2,000 adults by electrical-goods firm Phillips, 33 percent never eat breakfast at all. Another 30 percent munch during their way to work or school, and the remaining 37 percent sit down and eat a proper morning meal.

Phillips also calculated that it takes eight-and-a-half minutes to eat breakfast.
