RuPaul's Drag Race's road to VH1 hasn't come without its share of speed bumps, and some of the show's most famous contestants are calling out the network for hiring Wendy Williams, whom they accuse of being adversarial to the drag — and trans — community.

The show's newest season, which premiered on Friday (March 24), found Williams hosting the pre-show event. On Monday (March 27), Detox, a finalist on All Stars Season 2, publicly denounced the choice of talent, and reposted a note from Stephanie Stone, who reminded followers that Williams once kicked out a member of her studio audience for dressing in drag.

"[Williams] is not an ally. She is transphobic. If anything, she is an enemy," Detox wrote as a caption to Stone's post, and host Michelle Visage corroborated the notion in the comments, noting simply (but damningly) "Yup."

Drag Race All Stars Season 2 winner Alaska also criticized Williams' hire, and expanded on her disappointment in a statement issued to Unicorn Booty. Alaska took particular issue with Williams' handling of Caitlyn Jenner's path to coming out as a trans woman, and Williams' constant sense of judgment.

"At that time, much of the nation was learning to navigate trans visibility for the first time and needed guidance and clarity from the media. But instead Wendy repeatedly spouted ignorance and transphobic rhetoric to a daily audience of millions," Alaska said. "I don’t watch her show anymore. And I certainly don’t think she is the right person to be hosting our community’s flagship television program."
