Drew Barrymore, who plays a dead woman in Netflix's new comedy Santa Clarita Dietalmost saw life imitate art while filming.

In a new interview with Us WeeklyBarrymore and show creator Victor Fresco recalled a horrifying moment from set in which Barrymore plummeted to the ground during rehearsal. Her character was supposed to jump on a man's back to kill him, but the man was a "wide guy," and Barrymore lost her grip and went down.

"Then he held onto her legs as she slipped off, and so she just pivoted down all the way and just hit her head," Fresco recalled of the July 2016 moment. "I thought, 'That's it. We've killed Drew Barrymore.'"

"It was f------ terrifying," Barrymore added. "It was very serious. I've never had a feeling like that in my life."

Production shut down for two days while Barrymore recovered from a concussion in the hospital. Still, neither she nor Fresco had any intention of skipping the scene in question upon her return.

"Coming back, it was scary," Barrymore said. "Everyone was really tense."

Still, she felt supported.

"I love that this group of people, who aren't family necessarily, are coming together and care about my well-being," she said. "It was a nice moment where you see the good in people."
