fun. appeared on 'Saturday Night Live' over the weekend, treating viewers to a performance of their latest hit, 'Some Nights.' Singer Nate Ruess, who apparently forgot to remove his trench coat, bounced around the stage as the band cranked up the energy factor for the late-night audience.

Ruess sang the opening two lines a cappella, in contrast to the studio version of the track, which features a wall of voices backing up Ruess. The rest of the group finally joined in on vocals when the Lion King-style beat kicked in before the next verse.

We're still not sure what Ruess means with those lyrics about his lips building a castle, finding martyrs in his bed, and people coming to jack his style, but he seemed passionately behind them during his intense performance. During the band's second performance slot on the show, the guys opted to play their next single, 'Carry On' rather than their months-old No. 1 hit 'We Are Young.'

Both the 'Some Nights' single and the album of the same name got to No. 3 on the charts. fun. have extended their current concert tour into early 2013.
