Midland Fair Havens held their first ‘Gingerbread Havens’ fundraiser today. The event was a rousing success with so many wanting to participate, there was a waiting list of others wanting to take part.

The mission of Midland Fair Havens is to equip single mothers and their children for self-sufficient living, by addressing their educational, vocational, spiritual and emotional needs in residential and non-residential settings.

For their donation, the ladies were treated to a box lunch, a bare gingerbread house and every imaginable variety of candy to decorate it with. The Midland Country Club was beautifully decorated for the event.

The centerpiece of the room was the area where over a 1000 pounds of candy waited to be used for the gingerbread decorations.

The men who took part volunteered to be “Candy Elves” fetching the goodies as the ladies decorated.

Organizers said that next year, they would also feature an evening were the kids could decorate their own houses. All the ladies had a fun time, but don’t let anyone tell you that it was easy work. For more information about Midland Fair Havens check out their Facebook, or their website.
