The sounds of hammers pounding and wood being cut by saws has been the normal sound at a Habitat For Humanity site in Midland for 25 years now.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, over the course of the past 25 years, Midland's Habitat For Humanity has provided 139 homes to more than 600 Midlanders.

Not only does Habitat For Humanity provide homes for families, it also changes people's lives as well.

Officials say many have gone back to school, graduated or got their G.E.D., and have become teachers or social workers because of having a solid home base provided by Habitat For Humanity.

The 25th anniversary celebration is scheduled for October 13 at the Midland Horseshoe Pavilion.
