Here’s How You Can Honor The Officers That Gave Their Lives to Protect Us
Next week is National Police Memorial Week when we honor the service and sacrifice men and women in law enforcement gave in the line of duty.
On Thursday, May 19, the Odessa Police Department, Ector County Sheriff's Office, Midland County Sheriff's Office, DPS, and Lubbock Police Department will be holding a service to honor fallen officers.
It begins at 10:00AM at Sunset Memorial Gardents and Funeral home which is at 6801 E. Highway 80 in Odessa.
Eight local officers who have been killed in the line of duty will also be honored. They are:
Ector County Sheriff Deputy Thad West
Corporal Gordon “G.T.” Toal
Officer Scott Stanton Smith
Corporal Arlie “Lee” Jones
Corporal John Scott Gardner
Corporal Abel Marquez
Lubbock Officer Rodney Kendricks
Midland County Sheriff Deputy Mike Naylor.
If you can't make it out to the service, you can replace your porch light with a blue light bulb during National Police Memorial week to show your support.
