When I got engaged last month, I wasn't in any hurry to start wedding planning. Then I went into a bridal boutique that suggested I get in a hurry, and somehow I'm already finished.

I tried on my first round of dresses last Friday, and I was filled with anxiety. I mean I was excited about trying on pretty dresses, but I was also slightly overwhelmed with the task at hand. I had never done this before.

I've worn lots of formal dresses to fund-raisers and to emcee various events throughout my career, but never a wedding gown. Friday was a bit more intense than I expect. The sales person put me in special undergarments, and in super form-fitting dresses.

I mean, I liked my rockin' figure, but I could hardly breathe - let alone move! I got anxious, and while I found a favorite I decided to not make an emotional decision. I asked the saleslady to please keep my information, and scheduled a follow-up appointment for this week.

In the mean-time, I passed a local boutique with a sale sign up on Monday. My intuition kicked in, and something inside me told me to drop in on my lunch break and make an appointment.

Lucky for me, they were wide open last night. After trying on round two of dresses, and doing some hard-thinking about what I really wanted, I found my dress.

It's amazing, and I felt like a Disney Princess inside it. Did I mention it was on-sale? Yes, and I managed to get all the accessories to go with it! I can finally check one major 'to-do' off my list. No, I can't show it to yet. You've got to wait, but I assure you it will be worth the wait!

In the interim, here are some looks from the designer that inspired me. My dress is a bit similar to her style, though not one of hers. Check out Maggie Sottero.
