Americans love their cars, they just don't necessarily love other Americans in cars.

Road rage is aggressive or angry behavior by a driver of an automobile or other road vehicle. Such behavior might include rude gestures, verbal insults, deliberately driving in an unsafe or threatening manner, or making threats. Road rage can lead to altercations, assaults, and collisions that result in injuries and even deaths. It can be thought of as an extreme case of aggressive driving. - Wikipedia

If you find yourself swearing at other drivers in the car you might have road rage. If you also gave them the 'You're #1 sign', with your middle finger, you probably have road rage.

A roadside assistance service company called AutoVantage just released the results of a survey on the state of road rage in America in 2014 and compared their results from the same survey in 2009.

1. Honking is up 12%, cursing at other drivers is up 8%, SHAKING OUR FISTS at other drivers is up 4%, and giving the finger to other drivers is up 3%.

2.  We're driving safer, mostly.  Talking on your phone while driving is down 15%, speeding is down 12%, eating and driving is down 12%, and tailgating is down 6%.  But texting and driving is up 9%.

3.  Houston is now the top road rage city in the U.S.  Portland, Oregon is the most polite.
