Jeff Goldblum has had a fairly diverse career, and although he’s given some of his best performances in movies from directors like Wes Anderson and David Cronenberg, the actor is no stranger to blockbusters. Despite giving heroic performances in Jurassic Park and Independence Day, Goldblum has yet to appear in a proper superhero film (though your interpretation of The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai may vary), but according to a new interview with the actor, that might change very soon.

Goldblum sat down with Josh Horowitz of MTV News to discuss Independence Day: Resurgence, for which he returned to the memorable role of scientist David Levinson. As to why he returned for an Independence Day sequel and not last year’s Jurassic World, Goldblum says he was simply never asked to join the former — nor has he been contacted about Jurassic World 2.

But the most interesting part of the interview is Goldblum’s response when asked why we haven’t seen him in a big superhero movie yet. When Horowitz suggests that the actor has to have met with Marvel or DC by now, Goldblum’s reaction is rather intriguing:

I can say very little right now. But you might be onto something.

When asked if he’s more of a Marvel or DC guy, Goldblum’s reaction is priceless. “What’s the difference? They’re both comic books.” Watch below:

Goldblum’s involvement is quite plausible — Marvel boasts some amazing talent, including recent additions like Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton. On the DC side we have Ben Affleck and — for someone a bit more Goldblum’s speed — Ezra Miller, who plays The Flash. It’s actually pretty easy to imagine Goldblum playing a role in that movie, which will be very science-oriented, as some of the actor’s more notable and acclaimed roles have been as scientists or in sci-fi movies.

Speaking of which, Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters on June 24.
