Up until this point 'Zero Dark Thirty' was mostly shut out at the 2013 Golden Globes but then Jessica Chastain won Best Actress for her performance in that film.

George Clooney came out to announce the Best Actress award (after an intro by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler that joked the old George Clooney makes young George Clooney look like garbage) and announced the winner was 'Zero Dark Thirty' star Jessica Chastain.

It wasn't a huge surprise, but it's always nice to see actors and actresses who are humbled by winning an award. Chastain specifically mentioned how long and hard she struggled as an actress, trying to make it and how much it meant to her to finally have validation that what she was doing was working.

Chastain mentioned what many were thinking after seeing 'Zero Dark Thirty' - she thanked director Kathryn Bigelow and said that she feels her character is very much inspired by Bigelow herself.
