Shortly after Kim Kardashian gifted the Internet with the telephone call that effectively proved Taylor Swift had, in fact, endorsed Kanye West's controversial “Famous” lyrics, several of Swift’s close friends spoke out in support of the “Bad Blood” singer online. But one voice was missing from the unending discourse — that of the woman considered one of Swift’s best friends, model Karlie Kloss.

While some of Swift’s famous pals — including Martha Hunt and, more notably, Selena Gomez, who landed in hot water following her callous tweets — did defend their squad leader on Twitter, the majority of Swift’s famous friends stayed silent. The reasoning behind Kloss' silence, in particular, remains unknown. But when asked to comment on whether or not Kim is a good person during a recent interview, Kloss managed a diplomatic answer that effectively left her out of the whole thing -- or did it?

“I think she’s been a lovely person to me in the past,” she said in an interview with The Sunday Times via Vanity Fair. “Look, I really don’t know her that well.”

Fair enough -- directly involving herself in all that unending, petty drama would've been a headache for Kloss, to say the least. But she then reportedly followed up that statement with an unprompted, "My closest friends, really, are my sisters and my mom.”

What could this mean for the current state of her friendship with Swift? Was that joint Vogue shoot merely all for show? Is Karlie perhaps Team KimYe? Is it possible the media is reading too deep into Kloss' attempt at neutrality? Let us know your thoughts on Karlie Kloss' feelings about Kim Kardashian in the comments below.

Update: Taylor Swift's reps alerted PopCrush to Karlie's tweeted updates below on Monday evening, in which the model affirmed that there's no connection between her Kim-related comments and her friendship with the "Shake It Off" singer.

Kloss, who co-starred in a video entirely centered around an armed girl gang preparing to fight a woman who had wronged Taylor Swift, added, "and I will never be the girl that you can use to pit women against each other. That isn't me."
