Congrats to Katy Perry, as her new album 'Prism' debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200. That should shock no one since Perry had her sights set on that accolade from the moment she announced the release!

The singer sold 286,344 copies of the record, earning her the best sales week of her career so far. She also sold almost 50% more copies of 'Prism' than she did of 2010's 'Teenage Dream,' which had the same (if not louder) buzz with its first single 'California Gurls' as 'Prism' did with its first single 'ROAR.'

It was the largest sales week for a female artist in the U.S. in 2013, as well.

The album did leak a week ahead of the release, so this tally is impressive, considering that the record was online and passed around like a hot potato by Katy Cats.

Congrats to Perry and the folks at her Capitol for topping the charts with 'Prism' this week. A second round of applause (not 'Applause') for Perry for having the courage to let the light in after going to through a dark period, thanks to her divorce from Russell Brand.
