Light Up Someone You Love

One of the best things you can do for yourself or someone you love, is to get them a good flashlight.

That might sound strange, the new high output models aren’t your dad’s flashlight, unless you’re my daughter, then it is ‘your dad’s flashlight’. Ten years ago, the ‘must have’ flashlight was a Maglite. It was something you would see police officers carrying. It was bright and doubled as a head-cracking tool. The problem was, it was too big, too heavy and tactically it wasn’t practical.

Now there are these new little led (light emitting diode) flashlights that are small, light and VERY bright. The one pictured is one of several Surefire flashlights I own. It’s smart to have one of these with you if you are walking through an unlit area, like a dark parking lot or if your having to change a tire in the middle of nowhere. Just using a flashlight to light your way, shows a potential assailant that you are more aware of your surroundings than the average bear.

They are not cheap, but they are rugged and you can literally get hours of bright light out of them.
