American healthcare may be on the brink of scaling back coverage for millions of Americans, but the MTV Movie Awards are going BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER!!! The network announced yesterday (March 13) that the show will expand to include TV categories for its 2017 show, which just so happens to also be the event's 25th anniversary.

Renamed the MTV Movie & TV Awards, the show will look at the best of young talent across both big and small screens and air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 7.

"We’re living in a golden age of content, and great storytelling and characters resonate regardless of whether you’re watching it in a theater or on TV,” MTV president Chris McCarthy said. "The new MTV Movie & TV Awards will celebrate even more of the brightest, bravest, funniest and most shared films and TV shows resonating across youth culture."

MTV added that it will usher in the new Movie & TV Awards era with a day-long festival on May 7 that will include musical performances and food for fans outside The Shrine.

Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson hosted the 2016 MTV Movie Awards. Star Wars and Pitch Perfect 2 ultimately proved to be the night's big winners
