It doesn’t take much more than an iconic movie’s name to prime a TV reboot, and NBC’s Taken has an uphill battle to match the particular thrill of Liam Neeson’s particular skills. While we wait for the midseason premiere, take a look at the first trailer now, before it gets … well, Taken down.

Led by Vikings star Clive Standen in the role Liam Neeson made famous, the new Taken series follows a young, unmarried Bryan Mills developing the abilities that featured into the original 2008 movie, and its two subsequent sequels. At this point in his life, Bryan is recruited to be a black ops agent for the elite “Emergency Covert Action Team.”

Also starring in the series are Jennifer Beals, Gaius Charles, Monique Gabriela Curnen, James Landry Hebert, Michael Irby, Brooklyn Sudano, Jose Pablo Cantillo and Simu Liu. Homeland alum Alexander Cary wrote the pilot script and executive produces the new drama, behind original film director Luc Besson, as well as Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros. Game of Thrones and Homeland director Alex Graves helmed the pilot episode.

Taken won’t officially premiere until midseason, but enjoy the trailer while it lasts. NBC will find it. NBC will kill it.
