Today around 5pm, Earth will have a near miss (astrologically speaking) from a rock the size of a city block.

The asteroid named QG42 is between 625 feet to 1,400 feet wide (190 to 430 meters) and was first spotted by scientists last month. Researchers say the space rock has no chance of hitting Earth, but did classify it as a ‘potentially hazardous asteroid’ since it may pose a future threat to the planet.

The asteroid will pass by at a relatively  close distance of 7.5 times the Earth-Moon distance know as Lunar Distance (LD) which is roughly 250,000 miles.

Jupiter Impact

There are a lot of rocks flying around the solar system. Just last week Jupiter was hit by an asteroid and the flash captured by George's Astrophotography.
