An Odessa man on trial for a state jail felony drug charge says he should not be prosecuted because of his religious beliefs.

According to the Odessa American, Canuto Jason Tarango was found guilty of possession of marijuana Monday and was sentenced to two years in jail.

Tarango testified " I feel based on my religion and what's instructed in the Bible, it's a God-given right." He claims he does not belong to any one denomination, but believes that the four and twenty elders in the book of Revelation promotes marijuana usage.
