An Odessa man's hobby has turned into an award winning short film.

According to the Odessa American, Michael Austin and his girlfriend love sailing.

So while they were on a motorcycle tour in New Zealand, they came across a tall sail boat called the R. Tucker Thompson located in the Bay Islands.

This ship takes disadvantaged kids out to sea, so he took video of his voyage on the R. Tucker Thompson and made it into a short documentary.

He also offered the documentary to the R. Tucker Thompson Sail Training Trust as an "unconditional gift" and the trust was "totally blown away" by the footage Austin took.

The film won the Award of Recognition from the Accolade Global Film Competition in the category of Inspirational, Motivations Short Film. If you haven't seen it yet, here is the short film.
