I took this picture at a local supermarket. It shows the access lanes in the handicapped zone inaccessible because, well let me just say it, some people are lazy and inconsiderate. It would only mean walking a few extra feet to place the carts where they go, but instead, some folks find it easier to just push them into the access lanes of the handicapped parking area, blocking the access. On more than one occasion, I’ve actually said something to someone who did this. They usually looked surprised, then angry, then a little ashamed. More than not though, they just ignored what I said and walked back to their cars.

I’m not trying to pick a fight, and some might say, ‘Why don’t you just mind your own business’, but I can’t keep silent when there seems to be less respect or consideration for each other in our communities. This is the supermarket where my family shops. Whenever possible, I gather the carts myself and take them back to the front of the store. Even though the store has people to do this sort of thing, they are short-handed like most businesses and it doesn’t always get done in a timely manner. I am able, so I do it, that’s the way I was raised. Maybe if we all started doing more to find ways to help in the little things, the big things in our communities might be more manageable.
