When 'The Adventures of Tintin' was released last December it was supposedly the start of a trilogy that Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg were going to produce together and trade off directing duties. The film didn't perform strongly in America (though that was expected), but international numbers didn't made a sequel look like a done deal. Now Jackson has weighed in on the follow up, and it's going to happen.

At least, that's what we gather from this interview done by rtbf.be, which Bleeding Cool translated. Jackson says that he plans to shoot the performance capture for his 'Tintin' sequel (which is tentatively titled 'The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun') in 2013, with plans for a 2015 release date.

Since the performance side of motion capture is usually done on one stage over the course of a couple of weeks it's totally doable as long as he has a script, even if he's also shooting more footage for the third 'Hobbit' movie 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again' this year and putting the finishing touches on 'The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug'.  But it suggests the man won't be sleeping much.

And though word has been quiet on the 'Tintin' front, British TV writer Anthony Horowitz was hired to write the script, and has likely turned in a couple of drafts at this point. As we were fans of the first film, this is good news.
