Pioneer Natural Resources Planning Multi-Million Dollar Deal to Improve Secondary Water Treatment Facility in Midland

The City of Midland and Pioneer Natural Resources have come together to help one another out.

According to NewsWest 9, the city and Pioneer will sign an agreement today (Tuesday 12/13) for Pioneer to invest $110 million into Midland's secondary water treatment plant which will help the facility get up to date on all federal and state regulations.

In return the city will provide Pioneer with exclusive access to the treated water for fracking and drilling purposes.

When passed the deal will be in effect for 28 years. Once approved by the legislature in Austin, groundbreaking is expected to be in the spring of 2017 and the facility should be in operation within 18 months.
