Midland police will now be patrolling the downtown area for parking violations.

According to NewsWest 9, parking violations have gotten worse in downtown Midland and MPD is stepping up patrol officers in the downtown area to curb the violations.

People have been parking cars for longer than the 2 hour limit on the downtown streets and have gotten away with it, but now you will be issued a ticket and given a fine which doubles after 10 days if not paid.

So if you park in the downtown area and you have been violating parking limits on signs, you are going to be the one getting the ticket.

MPD says warnings will be given out first and then after that grace period they will begin giving out citations.
