Sleepy Hollow fandom found itself in an understandable uproar by the Season 3 finale seemingly killing off co-lead Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), an essential chemistry that made the series possible in the first place. A fourth season subsequently seemed a longshot, but now those crazy FOX folk have decided to give it a try, renewing Sleepy Hollow to go solo in Season 4.

Among the ever-expanding list of renewals and cancellations ahead of Upfronts week, FOX has officially granted a fourth order to Sleepy Hollow, confirmed to move forward without Nicole Beharie. At the time, Beharie was reported to be planning an exit for some time, owing to diminished reception and creative clashes.

Apart from Beharie (and fellow departing Season 3 star Nikki Reed), the Sleepy Hollow Season 4 cast will include Tom Mison, Lyndie Greenwood, Lance Cross and Jessica Camacho. For the moment at least, no word on how many episodes the fourth run will consist of, or where on the schedule FOX might look to place it.

Certainly Sleepy Hollow Season 4 will have some eyes on it by pure curiosity, but is the once-revered occult hit doomed without Nicole Beharie?
