Taylor Swift is nothing if not consistent. She releases an album every two years, and four out of her past five have dropped in October (barring 2008’s Fearless which came out in November). So if you consider the fact that her last album — the mammoth pop crossover 1989 — was released in October 2014, it only makes sense that she’s due for new music this fall, right? Well, according to her label, you would be DEAD WRONG in basing a prediction on what's proven in the past to be a consistent pattern!

Scott Borchetta, the president and CEO of Taylor’s label Big Machine Records, responded on Twitter to a fan who asked whether a new TSwift album would hit shelves in October. His answer was a succinct “NOPE,” but it hasn’t deterred fans from gleaning an entirely different meaning from the response.

The new rumor fans have created: A brand new Taylor Swift album — which, if we’re lucky, will feature revealing songs about her ex Calvin Harris, her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and her nauseatingly public romance with Tom Hiddleston — will see a November 2016 release date instead.

The logic here is that Borchetta failed to outright deny speculation that an album would drop some point this year, so why not November!?

Sure, Taylor's insisted that she's taking a long, much-needed break from the public eye, but we have yet to see much evidence of that claim.

“I think I should take some time off," she told PEOPLE back in October 2015. "People might need a break from me. I’m going to hang out with friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don’t know.”

We don't know either, for now.
