Because of recent fears of the Zika virus spreading across the country, Texas has stepped up to provide repellent for pregnant women.

According to NewsWest 9, Texas Medicaid will offer the repellent to expectant mothers as well as females between the ages of 10 to 45 to prevent the spread and to protect from the harmful birth defects that can happen because of the virus.

Women in the state run program will get two cans of repellent each month from now through October when the peak season for mosquitoes in Texas comes to an end.
