Sad news for fans of the Civil Wars: The country duo have officially announced their breakup.

“I am saddened and disappointed by the ending of this duo, to say the very least," Joy Williams said in a statement on the group's website. "JP is a tremendous musician, and I will always be grateful for the music we were able to create together."

As a parting gift to fans, the duo shared their cover of 'You Are My Sunshine' on their website.

"I sincerely hope that ‘You Are My Sunshine’ will be accepted as a token of my gratitude for every single person that has supported our duo throughout the years," Williams said in her departure.

Pop fans will remember the Civil Wars as the duo who collaborated with Taylor Swift on the 'Hunger Games' hit 'Safe and Sound'. There had long been issues within the duo, as they famously canceled their 2012 tour dates due to “internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition," Entertainment Weekly reports. While the band still released an album in 2013, they did not tour for it and announced a hiatus that same year.

The band have won several Grammys, including one for their 'Safe and Sound' collab with Swift.
