Severe weather hit the Permian Basin last night and tornadoes were spotted around Big Spring and Garden City on the exact date of the Saragosa tornado back in 1987.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the tornado outbreak yesterday comes on the 29th anniversary of the devastating tornado that destroyed 80% of the town of Saragosa.

The severe weather last night spawned at least 2 tornadoes in the area, one south of Big Spring and the other was also south of Garden City.

Damage was not as devastating as the Saragosa tornado of 1987 but still caused damage in and around the two towns.
