Two Arrested in Odessa on Charges of Kidnapping Teen

Two people are behind bars in connection to a reported kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl.

Just before 3:00 this morning, Odessa police arrived at a hotel in the 3000 block of East Highway 80 to find a girl saying she had been kidnapped by a man and woman from Las Vegas and was being held against her will.

According to police, the girl said she tried to escape about a week ago, but was caught and beaten for trying to leave. Today, she reported she was able to escape when the couple fell asleep and ran to the hotel office to call police.

Police have arrested 24-year-old Marquis Maurice Lamount Sweet and 24-year-old Domaniece Latrice Roy on charges of First Degree Aggravated Kidnapping.

The girl was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment and to conduct a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner  exam. The Odessa Police Department, the FBI and Texas DPS are continuing their investigation.
