AMC just released the opening scene for The Walking Dead's anticipated companion series on Facebook!

In the first scene, Frank Dillane awakens in a drug den only to find everybody is dead, but not harmless!

'Fear The Walking Dead' stars Dillane as Nick Clark, the troubled son of Kim Dickens' Madison Clark and brother to Alycia Debnam-Carey's Alicia Clark. Cliff Curtisplays Madison's boyfriend Travis Manawa. Orange Is the New Black's Elizabeth Rodriguez also stars.

The new show takes place before the events of The Walking Dead with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) still in a coma in Atlanta. The show is set in Los Angeles which will bring a whole new set of challenges to the survivors given the urban setting.

Fear not, 'Fear The Walking Dead' has already been renewed for a second season on AMC and like its predecessor, it will be longer; going from six episodes in season one to 15 episodes in season two.

Fear The Walking Dead's 90-minute premiere airs Sunday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. on AMC.
